I originally bought this for my parents for Christmas and decided on a whim to purchase an additional one for myself.



I should note that i am not a big wine drinker, in fact i would prefer a nice German or Belgium beer. However we had a few people over for a New Years Eve party and i decided to break out the Aerator. There were a few people who considered themselves avid wine drinkers. They couldn't stop raving about how it really brought out the flavor in both red and white wines. So i decided to try it myself the next day with a brand new bottle of wine.



Wow is all i can say. i really understand now when they said "it really brings out the flavor". It even smells better. I tried a glass with a few sips before the Aerator and a glass afterwards and even a non-wine drinker such as myself could immediately tell the difference. The wine had a fuller fruitier taste and a great aroma



If you enjoy wine you really owe it to yourself to try this product out. Not only does it work really well but it is an awesome conversational piece. I have no idea if it is better or worse then some of the other Aerators but i choose this one because you leave it in the bottle and is so easy to use. Just make sure its tight and when you pour hold the bottle completely upside down. Enjoy!

I bought this with high expectations as it claims to aerate wine. When i got home I could not wait to try it out. In doing a taste-test with it - I found the wine to be minimally aerated. :( I am a seasoned wine drinker and love wine toys. The menu barely increased the aromatics and did nothing to soften the tannins in the wine.



I do like the design,and the packaging is good. However due to the price and lack of performance, I would not recommend it. I have since been reading a few blog reviews of other aerators and advise anyone interested in getting or gifting an aerator to quickly look for tasting results. I have been using my Menu Vignon wine aerator for a couple months now, and love how much easier it makes my wine enjoyment, particularly with reds. It is extremely easy to use -- just install it like a stopper snugly into the mouth of the bottle -- and just as easy to clean -- a quick rinse is all it takes.



In the extra minute or less that it takes to use this item, you can all but eliminate the need for (or at least significantly accelerate with some more stubborn wines) the traditional method of decanting and aerating. And you don't need a separate decanter to pour your wine into -- this allows you to pour aerated wine straight from the bottle to the glass. Respirer, which is French for breathe, was developed using engineering based on core scientific principles. It's better than a wine decanter. A beautifully crafted combination of art and science, Simply hold it over a glass and pour the wine through, mixing the proper amount of air in the right amount of time. The result is a better bouquet, richer flavor, and smoother finish.

How it Works:
When you pour  into the aerator the wine flows into a conditioning device called the VIC, (Vortex Impedance Control). It conditions the wine so that it doesn't swirl and it presents the wine to the proprietary pressure chamber in a consistent smooth flow. As the wine enters the pressure chamber, its downward flow caused by gravity increases, which creates a vacuum affect. This vacuum draws in air through the side air intake channel. At this point the real work begins.

Now the wine and air mixture exits the chamber and enters a tapered section of the fluid tube that increases fluid speed and further decreases the pressure in the tube. This decrease in pressure "tugs" on the air bubbles causing them to want to expand. So now we have the fluid-air mixture speeding up and the bubbles wanting to expand, however everything is being forced into a smaller and smaller cross-section.

While the bubbles expand as they encounter the reduced cross-section of tube the bubbles collide. and force the wine to be squeezed between each other resulting in a high degree of oxygenation. The collisions are often so extraordinary that they create fractures in the bubbles and they burst. The result is many smaller bubbles with much greater surface area touching and oxygenating the wine. Then wine passes through the diffuser, which causes turbulence, separation and further wine aeration. Finally the aerated wine flows and into your glass.

All this occurs in a blink of an eye. Pretty amazing. Enjoy!

I have recently tried out the aerator for red wine, and think that there is no going back. While taste testing a wine that had been aerated, and a just opened bottle, I couldn't believe it! My palette was left clean and I could just enjoy the wine and not be left with an unpleasant taste. This even makes a cheap bottle of wine taste like twice its price.



I also love the shape of this. The fact that you can place it on top of a wine bottle after using to let you catch the wine left in the aerator and not let it go to waste is a great feature. Most aerators only can sit back into their stand, and then the wine drips into the stand.

As a red wine drinker the Respirer has become a standard accessory on my kitchen bar. We have been using it for at least 11 months after seeing it at a Carlsbad wine shop. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE THE VINTURI! It does wonders with red wine! However, I purchased the PINK one for my sister for Christmas (I snuck a peak before I wrapped it, hehe). It's really not a bright bold pink...it's more of a faded translucent pink fleshy color. I uploaded a photo in the customer images section (there should be a link just below the main image on the item). Get a Vinturi; I highly recommend it. But get the black one instead.

...especially if they like the reds. As you will note from the other reviews here, the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator really does what it claims, and does it well. The purveyors at my local liquor store were showcasing this little device and I was surprised when I could actually tell the difference. It really opens of the flavor of a wine, giving it a better mouth feel and brings out the aromas. It also give the wine a smoother finish, particularly with tannic reds.



It would have garnered five stars from me but for some niggles. You have to be careful when pouring to do so at the proper rate to keep it full but not overflowing, allowing it to do it's magic. It also drips a bit after pouring so it and its little stand need cleaning afterwards. No biggie though. At $40 it isn't cheap, but just from holding it you can tell it is a quality product, and with this sleek little gadget, you won't need to decant your wine ever again.

I use the aerator regularly at home with a range of results. The worst results that I get is basically a minimal difference. That seems to occur more frequently with Bistro style wines. Even with them the wine doesn't taste worse. However sometimes the difference is astonishing. It has been almost like drinking another wine, with the aerator used glass tasting much fresher and way more lively with more prominent fruit flavors. And than I have gotten results that are in between.

Easy to use and easy to rinse and with its bag and stand, I've brought it along to others houses. Makes a good gift too.
