I have had a couple of these wine savers, and this one works very well for what it is. I have seen a couple reviews on here commenting that this is not effective and does not create an actual vacuum. While it could never create an actual vacuum, I think it is still effective. A wine will not be perfect the next day, but will still be very good. And where even a good wine will rarely last more than two days once opened, I have experienced very drinkable wine after four days. Of course it all depends on where you start. If it's a $5 bottle of wine then don't expect magic.

Bought this because I saw similar (but not identical) bottle re-stoppers at a Winery, where samples could be tested. Staff could uncork and recork the bottles very quickly for sampling.



So far these have worked well. Stoppers go easily into the bottles. Just have to pull the vacuum handle several times until you here a clicking. Not difficult to pull handle. Also when ready to reuse, just need to press the upper 'stem' on the stopper sideways, vacuum seal is broken and stopper comes out easily. So far working well. People at the winery said you could not use this method for 'sparkling' beverages (champagne) as the vacuum would remove the CO2 (sparkle) - so have not tried with champagne.

I have been using the Metrokane Wine Pourer for several years. For the price it is one of my most essential items in my home bar. Really I don't need it for the pouring but rather when we dont finish off the bottle of wine and want to stick it back in the fridge for another day or so. They do stretch out and thus you will need to replace them over time and I have had problems with some bottles not fitting them correctly but all in all you get a solid pour with no dripping and helps keep wine fresh when putting back in the fridge. I bought this to upgrade from an old hand corkscrew, which was unpredictable to use and sometimes resulted in broken corks.



Other reviews are right that this comes in a plain cardboard box, so just keep that in mind for gift giving purposes. However, mine did come with a sheet of instructions, as well as a card with company information on it. I had never used a foil cutter before, but it was really easy and strangely satisfying to take off the top of the foil so quickly and neatly! Then I put the opener to the test and it worked like a charm! No twisting, nothing slipping off....super easy to use. Then to get the cork off the corkscrew I moved the handle back and forth and it popped right off!



I rated this a four because it is really easy to use, but it doesn't feel like super heavy duty quality. Also, it's rather bulky and I had to make room in one of my drawers to hold it. The two handles that wrap around the bottle neck kind of spring open, so I actually had to put things on top of it in order to keep them shut to allow the drawer to close. It also came with a tip cover for the corkscrew, which is nice so that I don't poke my hand rooting around in my drawer.



All in all I think this was a great purchase for the price. And the 4 for 3 deal is great too!

We've had one of these knock off Rabbit type corkscrews for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. It's amazing how easily and swiftly you can remove a cork from a bottle with this thing. As others have noted (I think), though, I wish it came with some sort of instructions as to how to use it. Placing it on the bottle and removing the cork were very intuitive. No problem there. But it took a while to figure out how to get the cork easily off the corkscrew. You basically just have to go through the process of pulling the lever back up and then all the way back down again. But it's not obvious (to me, at least) that this would cause the cork to be removed from the corkscrew. But once you've figured that out, this corkscrew is the best. Oh yes, and the foil cutter is one of the best I've seen as well!

I know this seems gimmicky, but these beads really do work. Hard water stains and discoloration is removed from those areas impossible to reach. The cons would be they are a bit of a pain to work with and scatter easily if you're not careful, but once you get a system down, then no problem. I simply pour mine out of the decanter into a small strainer and then dry with a towel. The entire package is also very small and easy to store.

Saw this and thought, what the heck, I have an antique silver and crystal decanter that has been in the family for 100 years. I just receive this product. I am shocked at the gullible reviews on this site about the wine tasting better. I can assure you that the amount of wine aeration going on with this product is minimal at best. I bought this product hoping for decent aeration along with a no-drip spout. What I have is a very expensive clear plastic dripless pourer. I highly doubt any blind tasting would validate the claims in these reviews. The unit produces a very slight girgling of the wine as it is poured. I have been into wine aeration for some time. Here is my advice. Get yourself a nice wine decanter with a dented bottom to improve surface area and provide a hand grip. Next get a spray style funnel. Pour your wine into the funnel slowly and let it spray the wine onto the sides of the decanter and form a thin layer of wine over the entire large surface area of the decanter. This is massive air exchange compared to what this ridiculous little device accomplishes. Better yet chill your decaantor in the freezer or refrigerator as cold liquids hold more air (same reason warm cokes release their bubbles). If you think this little device is great you will probably love the "magnetic" snake oil wine conditioner found here http://www.amazon.com/Wine-Clip-Magnetic-Conditioner/dp/B000QFN90M/ref=pd_sim_hg_20. Go ahead and give your money away to these charlatans and be sure to not use your brain for 2 seconds. Their wealth counts on it.

Was introduced to this product by dear friend, who is a Wine Shop Owner, and he also applied the "before & after" tasting test using 3 different "REDS" (Malbec, Cabernet Blend, and Organic Cabernet). Like others, I too was skeptical about the "drastic change" to the aroma & taste of the wines, but I am now a DEFINITE AERATOR CONVERT! The aromas from all 3 "Reds" were immediately noticeable a few seconds after pouring. The flavors from each pour was noticeably more prominent, as if the pour had been oxygenating awhile. I don't know about the negative comments read about other brands of this type of aerator, but DO know how well this brand works. Now, I am a "Die-Hard Fan" of the "Menu Aerator" and is well worth the price !!

Purchased in February, this wine opener was dead by September. First, one of its components fell off, and was impossible to put back on. It still worked, and when it was working it was a great product. But then, in normal use, one of its "arms" broke off, and that was that. It's inexpensive and a good design, but I'd say the materials fall short. Also, the manufacturer is impossible to contact -- there's no website.

Perhaps they should put a metal rod, or similar reinforcement, inside the plastic handle.
